It was a popular quilt pattern throughout England and North America at the beginning of the nineteenth century and there are many variations, such as Broken Star, Feathered Star, Mathematical Star, Sawtooth Star and Star of Bethlehem. This complex pattern remains popular among quilters into the twenty-first century.
