Beading

Beading

A beading needle is a long, very fine tool with a long eye and normally a sharp point. It is used for working beads, cords, pearls, ribbons, sequins, etc. There are various types of beading needles, varying in size, construction and general appearance. English beading needles, for example, are normally slightly more flexible and longer than their Japanese equivalents.

In some publications no difference is made between a tambour hook and an ari hook, especially as these hooks are only slightly different in shape and both are used for similar types of embroidery as well as beading. Both hooks, for example, are used in a similar way for chain stitch embroidery.

A twisted (wire) beading needle is a form of beading needle, made from a single piece of stainless steel wire. The wire is twisted around on itself to form a needle, with a large round eye and a blunt end.
