They are also very popular in the Indian sub-continent, and perhaps even more so in the Middle East. Nowadays there are many different styles of hoods that reflect their widespread popularity. Hoods tend to be made out of fine leather, such as calf, chicken or kangaroo. In addition, they are often embellished with leather working techniques (stamping, embossing, and so forth), as well as being embellished with decorative needlework, beads, feathers, and so forth. Falcon hoods decorated with precious stones are also known.
