A large exhibition about the history and range of face veils worn by women in the Islamic world from Morocco to Central Asia. Examples of the many different types of face veils are included in this surprising and intriguing exhibition. The exhibition explores the (pre-Islamic) history of face veils, the range of modern face veils and different combinations of face, head and body veiling. The exhibition presents an intriguing and challenging view of this controversial form of dress.

  • Contents: The exhibition comes with c. 50 examples of face veils from Morocco to Central Asia, as well as photographs and a text explaining the history, materials, different types and methods of wearing the various forms of face veils. The exhibition is accompanied by a book, in English, on the same theme.
