Oman occupies a central position for trade between India, Iran, the Arabian Peninsula and East Africa. One of the most important products of Oman is frankincense, which was widely sought in the West for hundreds of years. As a result of Oman’s historical background, the clothing worn by Omanis reflects both ‘home grown’ and international forms. Omani dress, especially that for women, is very varied, colourful, and with many subtle details.
- Contents: The exhibition includes twenty outfits, plus some garments, for men, women and children. These include urban, village and Bedouin forms.
