Saudi Arabia is well known in the West for its men in white dresses and women in black, but how accurate is that image? These plain garments do exist, but there is much more to Saudi dress than that.  A very wide range of styles, designs and colours are associated with the outfits and garments worn in this vast country. The garments on display come from the northern, eastern, western and central regions of Saudi Arabia and include both urban, village and Bedouin styles of dress.

  • Contents: The exhibition includes 23 different outfits and a series of other garments for men, women and children. These all date to the twentieth century. In addition, there are photographs and texts describing and illustrating the different types of outfits, their social and economic roles, and the techniques used to decorate some of the garments. If required a book, in English, can be provided to accompany the3 exhibition.
  • Availability: The exhibition is currently available.
