On Friday 27 March, a number of public events will take place in Leiden, marking the start of the Pilgrim Year (for more information, click here), commemorating the departure from Leiden of the Pilgrim Fathers, en route to the New World on board the Mayflower.
During this event, you will have ample opportunity to become acquainted with Leiden Pilgrim history and the themes connected to it (migration, tolerance and oppression). Throughout the day, a number of locations and museums linked to the Pilgrims and the Golden Age will offer free entry to the public, including Museum De Lakenhal, Pieterskerk Leiden, Museum Wevershuis, and also the Textile Research Centre.
On 27 March, the TRC will be open from 10.00 until 16.00. Entrance to the Gallery Exhibition on American Quilts is free.
From 12.30 until 13,30, Dr. Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood will give a lecture (in Dutch/English) about American quilts, their history and backgrounds. Max 30 people, registration requested.
