William Rutlish (also written Ruthick) was a King’s Embroiderer at the court of Charles II of England (r: 1660-1685). He was buried in St. Mary’s Churchyard, parish of Merton (SW19), London.

He left the sum of £400 for a school for the education of poor children of the local parish. The Rutlish school is still operating in 2014 (Merton Park, southwest London). At one time he was associated with John Nelham, a member of the Broderers' Company.
