During the twentieth century, a number of companies in various countries produced kits with all the necessary materials needed to make a sampler of some form. These kits included ground material, thread, needle and a suitable pattern, usually in the form of a chart.

The designs include popular themes, such as the birth of a child (with suitable gender related designs) or a wedding, images and texts designed to commemorate national events, as well as patterns based upon historic examples of samplers. Such kits are still widely available in the twenty-first century.
