Each embroidery is based on a folk tale or typical South African scene. This style of work is found in many countries, especially in Africa, and is often associated with the Egyptian architect, Wissa Wassef. The embroidery is mainly worked in chain stitch with a crochet hook (rather than a tambour hook) with a cotton cloth as the ground material. The objects made are sold via various commercial outlets in South Africa as well as online.
