Sunday afternoon lecture, 17th June: Japanese designers in the Western fashion world.

At various moments in western fashion history, designers have been inspired by what was unknown and outside their immediate circle: the classical past, country dress, the Orient. This often happened in times of dramatic social changes. When Japanese designers  of western fashion were edntering the western world of fashion in the 1960s, they were both creator and source of inspiration. This Sunday Lecture will tell about this process and show many examples. The lecture will be given by dr. Anna Berens, specialist in Japanese culture and dress.
