Wednesday morning workshop 27th June: 17th century passementerie.

This Wednesday morning workshop will be given by Dorothee Olthof, specialist in archaeological textiles and clothing and in the reconstruction of medieval and later garments.

In this workshop she will be discussing the history and use of decorative braids on people's clothing. These braids were made using tablet and band weaving techniques and made of silk and wool. The patterns are not very complicated, and most can be woven with about eight tablets.

This workshop will be suitable for beginners as well as those with more experience. The workshop has theoretical and practical elements.
