Belgravian Embroidery

Belgravian embroidery is a late nineteenth century English term to describe a braid decorated with bugle beads.

Patterns of leaves, petals, etc, were traced upon the braid and then filled in with solid masses of bugle beads. The beads were sometimes fastened down with filoselle. The individual leaves could be cut out and sewn down onto a ground material or the beaded braid could be sewn down in long lengths.
