'Ancient Egyptian' Punch Needle Embroidery

It is cited on various websites that the ancient Egyptians carried out punch needle embroidery using the hollow bones of birds for needles.

There is no archaeological evidence, however, to support these suggestions. There are numerous textiles from ancient Egypt (including Pharaonic and Graeco-Roman period textiles) that have lines of looped yarn, which are sometimes arranged in decorative patterns, but these loops were put in during the weaving process and not afterwards with a needle.
