Stitch Some More

There’s dishes to wash,
beds to make.
But my stitching will not wait.
Who needs dishes anyway,
who needs a bed for today.
I’ll eat from the carton,
sleep on the floor.
If it means I can stitch some more.

Stitch It Out

When I get real grumpy,
and I storm around the house.
Just sit me in the corner,
and I'll stitch my anger out.
Peace will soon arrive,
when my threads are there,
and the pillows will stop flying,
when a needles here.

Hours Spent

If they only knew the hours I spend,
the hours going round the bend.
Hours spent getting it right,
hours spent into the night.
The layers of drawings in front of me,
some just don’t want to be.
Some never to make it, to see my dream.
Some jump out and say ‘pick me’.
That scream of terror family often hear,
when hours are spent, then it ends in tears.
Hair pulled out in disarray,
when that design will not go my way.
But in the end the design comes through,
I hope you like it, there’s some grey hair too!

My Time

I’ve got the right colours,
my drawings are clear.
Now to find a comfy chair.
One with good light and chocolate too,
now my stitching can follow through.
So move over cat I’m on my way,
the needle is here and I have to play.
Don’t even think of coming near,
till I have a picture here.
Leave me alone, go away,
you can see it is my time to play.

Muse

Inspiration calls for me to bring a needle near,
to sit for hours in my chair.
To feel the thread running through my hands.
To create a picture is so grand.

Tigers And Things

If inspiration leads us,
if it is what we need.
Then sit among the daisies,
feel the summer breeze.
Walk with the tigers,
swim among the fish,
hike through the mountains,
jump a country ditch.
Just get the old muse going,
relax inside your mind.
Then all these lovely wonders,
will quickly come in time.

Complete

If I can’t have the needle,
if I can’t have the thread.
Then a small part of me
will shrivel up dead.
Though the mountain slowly grows,
as the tectonic plates meet.
I need something faster,
to make me complete.
So bring on the stitching,
another design please.
Then I will be happy,
as a mountain breeze.
The movement in my house,
is not tectonic plates,
but from the cheering,
that stitching is great.

For Another Year

For the world to almost end,
it would surely be.
Because the thread ran out,
and the needle went rusty.
The air was just as pure,
and my love at my side.
But something would be missing
from this heart of mine.
So surround me in fabric,
and bring the needle near.
And I will be contented for another year.
Don't confuse me with something,
that doesn't create in time.
Just let me have some space,
for these loves of mine.

For Yours And Mine

If a child wants to draw a picture,
does it have to be with a pen.
Let us extend that picture,
to include fabric and thread.
Show our children another world,
Where pictures are made with thread.
And the feel of the picture is raised,
from thoughts inside their head.
So carry on what started,
long before you and I,
And somewhere next millennium,
hear the sound of a contented cry.
For if their heads are empty,
with no fabric and thread.
They will have missed,
what you and I could have shared.

Designing Woman

When a piece of fabric I see,
I wonder what its to be.
Designs form inside my head,
popping out with time to spare.
Colours start to dance around,
Making sense when laid down.
Then a needle reaches in time,
And puts together another design.
Where will it take me, my needle only knows.
But there will be stitching,
Of another for show.
