Manish Arora, born in Mumbai in 1972, is one of India's leading fashion designers. He trained at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi, where he graduated in 1994. He launched his own fashion label ('Manish Arora') in 1997. He showed his creations at the London Fashion Week in 2005, and at the Paris Fashion Week in 2007.

His creations are sold worldwide via various outlets, including Galleries Lafayette, Joyce and Beams. He established a fashion label called 'Indian by Manish Arora', especially geared towards the Indian market. This label is now licensed to another fashion company.

His designs are characterised by great skills and the use of colours. He is inspired by his own Indian cultural heritage, but he gives his designs a modern and international appearance. Many of his designs are decorated with traditional Indian crafts, including appliqué, beadwork and embroidery.

See the entry on one of Arora's creations, now in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
