Large rectangle of net with appliqué sprigs (individual stylised leaves), as well as along one edge a wide border of fern-like leaves with small flowers.

The veil once belonged to Queen Anna Paulowna (1795-1865), a daughter of the Russian czar Paul I. She was the wife of the Dutch king, Willem II. The veil was given to Maria Petronella s’Jacob-Rochussen (1792-1848) at the birth of their daughter, Jeanne Josein Antoinette s’Jacob (1821-1910) in Brussels. At that moment Maria Petronella’s husband, Frederik s’Jacob (1775-1831), was the Dutch Secretary of the State Council and attached to the royal court of The Netherlands.
